Scheduling
Following successful training, users will receive access to iLab (requires a one-time registration). Sample preparation using the Vitrobot is scheduled in 1- to 4-hour session blocks, whereas Glacios 2 microscope time is booked based on screening (hourly rate) or data acquisition (daily rate).
To Register for an iLab Account
- Navigate to the core page: Cryo-Electron Microscopy.
- In the upper-right corner, click Sign In and select Sign in using University of Notre Dame credentials.
- Enter your Notre Dame credentials on the authentication page and click Login.
- On the iLab Registration page, select your PI/Lab and verify your contact information.
- Upon submission, your PI will receive a notification to approve your lab membership and assign a Fund-Organization-Program (FOP) code for billing.

Once you have been accepted into your PI’s lab and assigned an FOP, you can schedule equipment time.

Users must log into the iLab Kiosk interface for every instrument session to log active usage for billing:
To start your session with an already existing reservation:
- Navigate to the interface: Cryo-Electron Microscopy Kiosk.
- Log into the Kiosk interface.
- Locate your scheduled session under My Kiosk Sessions. (If you have multiple sessions, there is a search box to help guide you to the correct one you wish to start)
- Click the green Start button to launch your session and initiate the timer.
- You may log out of the Kiosk during an active session; the timer will continue running.
6. Upon completing your work, return to the Kiosk interface to stop the session timer.
Canceling Reservations
To maximize instrument availability, reservations for the Mark IV Vitrobot must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance, and reservations for the Glacios 2 must be canceled at least 48 hours in advance. If emergency circumstances prevent timely cancellation, notify facility staff immediately. Uncanceled reservations qualify as no-shows, and the registered FOP will be billed for the full reserved duration.
